2 Samuel 7:18 Then King David went in and sat before YHVH, and he said, "Who am I, Sovereign YHVH, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?"
There are times when it's good to look back and reflect on the journey thus far. These moments highlight the provisions of YHVH, the encouragements of community, the lessons learnt and the growth we have experienced. Who indeed is this little community family that YHVH would consider us and provide for us this way?
As part of this reflection of our Hebron journey I thought I'd pop up some photos of the journey - I think you'll be surprised when you look back at how the property looked when we first took ownership. Some people have come and gone, goals and projects have evolved but what remains consistent is the original purpose and vision for Hebron.
From Anunaka to Hebron. The previous name of the property was itself a sign to us, confirming the scripture that YHWH gave us as direction and encouragement.
These pictures were taken on our first reconnaissance. Amazingly we weren't daunted by the lack of infrastructure, the broken down fences, the stark landscape or the unfinished house - in hindsight I think YHWH in His kindness blinded our eyes!
Over the next couple of years we decided, in our abundant wisdom, to install an air-conditioner, erect a verandah and redo the external plumbing in the height of summer; mainly on 40 degree weekends. Who says these townies don't have a clue! Of course we then decided to erect the shed in winter on extremely windy weekends :)
The planting of trees is an ongoing venture and in total we've probably planted around 1500 so far. The first tree planted was the one we call John's tree, a weeping myrtle which is doing well. The other significant tree planted was Elaine's oak. Elaine was a remarkable woman who believed in the purpose of Hebron and her heart was to invest here. Her oak is doing extremely well.
We've had a menagerie of animals come and go over the years. I miss Splash, Bonnie's horse, but who knows, maybe we'll have another horse or pony at some stage.
And of course we the community are the ones who give Hebron the heart and soul of the place. I don't have photos of everyone here but you get the drift.
Later in the week I'll put up some posts about how Hebron came to be and outline the purpose and vision.
