Tikvah - Our Hope

In what do we put our hope for tomorrow? In whom do we put our trust?  To whom would we go?   YHVH Creator   YHVH Adonai   YHVH Elohim  As I've watched our paddock being prepared for hay season I am reminded that there are seasons of preparation and time to take advantage of the blessing of summer rain.   Break up unused ground for yourselves, because it is time to seek Adonai , till he comes and rains down righteousness upon you. Hosea 10:12   We live in a world consumed by the present and self, and people of faith are not immune.  The heart of our Father is constantly calling us to dedication, to hope and to return to the ancient paths.   This life is not easy and the days to come will be increasingly difficult.  It won't be for the faint of heart or those led by emotion and soft words.  There will be dry times, there will be times of hunger, there will be times of doubt and confusion.  It will require fortitud...

Sing to YHVH a new song!

Sing to YHVH a new song His praise in the assembly of the kedoshim.  Let Israel rejoice in its Maker Let the children of Zion be glad in their King. Let them praise his name with dancing. Let them sing praises to him with tambourines and harp.  For YHVH takes pleasure in His people.  He crowns the humble with salvation.  Let the kedoshim exult in glory. Let them sing for joy on their beds.  Let  Elohim's high praises be in their mouth  and a two-edged sword in their hand to execute vengeance upon the nations and rebukes on the peoples,  to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron, to carry out the sentence decreed -  This is the honour of all His kedoshim. HALLELU YAH!

Sons of Zadok

Human nature has not changed since the Garden.   Technology has, culture has but human nature has not.   The enemy of our souls has not changed.   His devices have, his tools have but his goal and desire have not.    Our Creator and Father has not changed.   His nature has not changed, His plan and timeline have not changed and most importantly, His Word has not changed.   If for no other reason, this should cause us to live a life that is devoted to unending worship, love and obedience to Him.   But we are susceptible to our own carnality and satan’s temptations, even when that leads to our destruction and loss of reward.   As children of Elohim, sojourners   on the Way, we are priests set apart to fellowship with and minister to Him, but also each other.   (I Peter 2:9)   And here’s the clincher, as musicians is our primary focus on Him or each other? During the Babylonian exile Ezekiel was shown the third temple ...

Psalmist or Troubadour?

In my last post I mentioned that I wanted to outline my perspective on the importance and purpose of musical praise in times of gathering together. I have been involved in providing music and leading praise for nearly 40 years and it still remains one of my greatest joys.  Music is wonderful gift from YHVH and it has the power and ability to connect our hearts to our Father and also to each other.  It's a mystery and one that intrigues me.  I want to make a distinction up front between music that is for the purpose of bringing a praise offering in our gatherings and moedim, and music that is used for entertainment.  It is my firm view that the two should never mingle.  It is human nature to want to be entertained, however, our gatherings and moedim is not the time nor the place.  I believe it requires an element of discernment and a huge helping of humility to keep free of the seductive temptress that is Entertainment . Really? Entertainment lure...
