Community

Gulliver leading in the flock This weekend has been a lovely combination of fellowship and chores.  We brought in the flock and tagged, vaccinated and docked the lambs.  We had 14 new additions to the flock and all are looking happy and healthy.  After everyone had left I noticed that another ewe had a black lamb, so a total of 15 as of today.  We will attend to the next batch of lambs during August's working bee.  A major priority on our to-do list is to install yards so that handling the sheep is safer and more efficient. Neal and a new addition Working together on these working bee weekends provide opportunities for developing relationships and honing our personal characters so that Yehovah's Name is held high in us and amongst us.  Community is an ideal that most people would hold to and it's also a term that is bandied around freely.  Online community, suburban community or church community, we've all heard it or said it, but to live it is a chall

Preparations

As I was preparing vegie boxes and sowing seeds today I pondered on the thought that life is a cycle of preparations and that Yehovah in His inifinite wisdom has given us the set apart days and annual feasts to continually remind us and give us opportunities to prepare for the coming again of Yeshua the Messiah and His reign of righteousness and justice. Raised vegie beds and small vegie tank. Pinenut trees in the foreground We plant seeds in anticipation of a crop and we cut wood in anticipation of cold days.  We also follow His instructions and keep His moed to prepare ourselves for the coming age, but also because it's truly a delight and we experience His reciprocal joy.  This seasonal, cyclic nature of life and Torah is truly testament of His kindness. Wintery Days

Despite some wild and wet days last week our four newcomers are doing well.  We have three ewe lambs and one that I haven't been able to check whether it's a ewe or ram.  As I watch the flock wandering the paddock it's easy to recall the Psalms and parables of Yeshua and be encouraged. To enjoy and be in Yehovah's creation is a blessing that we can always take for ourselves.  The mystery of the fullness of His redemptive love can be felt in part through the restorative healing, encouragement and hope that fills our souls when we go outside, breath deeply and view the beauty - whether it be rolling hills, the vastness of the ocean, watching birds feed in our backyard.    Palmer-Cooks Hill Road, view towards Hebron   Palmer-Cooks Hill Road, view towards Palmer and Murray Plains Visitor in our home yard How blessed are we to have this acreage of Hebron to enjoy, develop, express community and celebrate Yehovah's set apart days and festivals.

New Life on Sabbath

Had a lovely surprise on Sabbath morning yesterday to the arrival of two ewe lambs.  It was great timing as Brendan, Christina and the children were staying over, so we moved the ewes and lambs back into the main flock so Gulliver, the alpaca, could protect the lambs from foxes.    I checked this morning and we have a third lamb born, although whether it is a ram or ewe I don't know.  At least one of us is looking her best.... The stewardship of taking care of Yehovah's creatures is something we take very seriously. At times we've had to learn by our mistakes but our heart is to uphold Torah in spirit and in truth, and part of that is how we care for the land and its inhabitants. This batch of lambs are sired by the young ram who escaped our attention last year.  However, he is now proven so we will be able to sell him, as well as his father, this month.  (getting a decent photo of these boys is proving to be quite a task) I cut off Christina's head unfo
