Hebron's Newbie

Today we took delivery of our newest resident, a white alpaca to join Gulliver in guarding the flock.  He's a pretty boy with lovely manners, although I'm not sure he'll be so compliant after running free in the paddock for months at a time.

He has settled in quickly and Gulliver seems to ignore him with disdain and the flock have accepted his presence.  I was a bit curious as to what was happening out there earlier this afternoon as I had observed the flock running up and down the paddock.  The newbie was obviously anxious to make friends but the flock were having none of it :)

Of course the big question will be what to name him.  The name the breeders used for him is Hunter but as he doesn't know this we can rename him if we want.  Brendan's suggestion was Gabriel or David (as in a protector) and Trevor's suggestion was Lilliput (as in the little people in Gulliver's Travels).  A decision of this import obviously requires much consideration so perhaps after a period of prayer and fasting we can come together with our suggestions...
The newbie is 2 a year old Huacaya Peruvian alpaca (as is Gulliver) and he may have a bit more growing to do.  I'm sure he and Gulliver will make a good team and hopefully we won't lose any lambs in the next round of births.

Mum will have to get that spinning wheel going now that we have two alpacas!  I'll put in my order for a white and brown beanie :)   Jolyon is able to shear and attend to their feet so we'll give him a call after winter and book the boys in for a haircut.

    Lilliput - that was the word I was looking for when we spoke about him having a name associated with the story of Gulliver's Travels. Thanks for that Trevor. I vote Lilliput. He is very cute isn't he? Feel sorry for him with all the sheep running away from him - hope he doesn't get a complex and need counselling.... :-)

      Mmm, maybe it was you who suggested Lilliput and not Trevor. As of this morning he has settled in well and follows Gulliver around dutifully. We've also had a lamb born this morning so they will be put to the test tonight!

2025 Moedim - Appointed Times

Here in Australia it's spring but in the northern hemisphere the feasts at this time of year are known as the 'fall feasts' - Yom Teruah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot.   Yom Teruah Teaching It's new moon, Yom Teruah and we are anticipating Yom Kippur and the joy of Sukkot.  It's time for shouting, rejoicing, repenting and preparation - all in expectation to meet our King, our Messiah!  We put up banners, decorate our sukkah, fill the fridges and light the fires.   We will rejoice, we will enjoy each other's company but most of all, we know we will bless our Father with our obedience and He in turn will bless us. Sukkot 2025

When the sun set on the 8th day of Sukkot there was much to be grateful for.  It was a week of joy and laughter, and serious reflection.  I sit here trying to put into a succinct paragraph all that transpired but suffice to say, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, our Abba, met with us, encouraged and refined us. We were joined by a brother and sister from Western Australia - family in the Messiah that we just hadn't met yet.  We look forward to meeting many more of Yeshua's community in the years to come!   We love to praise - I mean we really love to sing and shout His praises.  We do our best to do as David instructs and maybe we're not as skilful or harmonious, but we certainly are joyful!  The praise and teaching times were recorded to YouTube if you want a refresher.  Like I said, we might not be polished in sound or technique, but we are uncompromising in our devotion to Him and His Word.
