Since moving back a couple of months ago I have wanted to start making the house and surrounds attractive, welcoming and a good testament. On Sunday I finished cleaning up and making a garden bed. This spot has been a mess of rocks, piles of dirt, charcoal, metal and rubbish so it was a very big tick off my list. I planted my dwarf pomegranate and annuals, so come Sukkot it should look more attractive.
Brendan installed the yagi 3G antenna and modem up at the shed on Sunday. It needs to be fine tuned but we now have a solid connection and wireless access throughout the house. A good internet connection is essential here at Hebron because of work needs, as well as making VOIP telephone accessible. This also means Brendan can access the weather station, modem/router and automatic irrigation remotely. Having our own IT guru is such a blessing.
Dad worked on the tractor and got it to kick over but unfortunately more work is needed. The tractor is an essential item on the property so we are looking forward to having this operational.
We also tagged, vaccinated and marked four more lambs. We now have 19 lambs (11 ewes and 8 rams - now wethers). Gulliver is doing a great job and we have lost no lambs to foxes. Last year we lost a lamb to pulpy kidney disease and that's why we vaccinate all stock annually. We bought a loading ramp this week, which will make loading stock onto trailers much easier and less stressful. (for them as well as us!) We will be taking approximately five sheep to the butchers in a few weeks so put your orders in for meat. We still have some chops in the freezer that is available for purchase as well.
The sound of bees busily going about their business reminds me that we need to arrange purchase of our own bee hive, so I will do that when I get back from Victoria next week. One or two hives will keep us supplied with honey all year round and ensure a good pollination for our orchard. Speaking of orchard, we also need to arrange for the planting of any extra trees, as well as fertilising and mulching the ones we have.
The iris' are starting to bloom and this always brings a smile to my face. To me the iris flower tells a wonderful story of Yehovah's promise and the story of the culmination of the ages. Matt 6:28 (Complete Jewish Bible) Think about the fields of wild irises, and how they grow. We are advised not to worry about this life, as He is ever watchful over us, but to keep our focus on His kingdom. We have been studying Matthew and Yeshua's good news of the kingdom and here at Hebron it's a lovely oasis to be reminded of the truth that it's not about the advancement of ourselves in this age, but the preparation for the age to come.
Shalom
Great update Annette - sorry I was not able to get up there last weekend - I had many thoughts of that tractor bursting back to life - maybe next time ??
ReplyDeleteGood to see the yagi up and performing - well done Brendan!
Yes, a bit of a shame that the tractor wasn't more compliant! Brendan also managed to put a ring on the young fella that wouldn't cooperate last month as well.
