2012, Over and Out

We have had a productive and enjoyable couple of days, firstly at Zarepath assisting Nathan and Joy in erecting goat fencing, and then at Hebron ticking off a number of chores.  The blessing and encouragement given and received at times like these is incalculable and I'm sure gives Yehovah just has much pleasure to see His children supporting common visions.

Yakira was a big help passing tools and writing down all the sheep numbers
It was time for the annual drenching and vaccination for the flock so this was a big task, mainly because we need proper sheep yards and a race, so that has moved up the priority list.

We also rounded up Gulliver, our alpaca, who was extremely obliging today, and the boys to give them their annual constitutional.
Gulliver willingly came through the race, knelt down and took his medicine like a man :)
The boys were surprisingly easy to handle today so I'll be putting them up on Gumtree to sell this week
Neal fixed the air-conditioner so we are now prepared for the hot spell that's coming.  I, for one, am extremely grateful for this handyman effort!  Trevor was in charge of the tractor today and he slashed the caper paddock and the orchard, which makes it much easier to move about without having to wade through dry, itchy weeds.  Dad and Brendan fixed a water leak and refilled the top tank again.  Unfortunately we've had to disconnect the pipe down to the front gate but it can be reconnected when we want to create garden bed.

Christina, with Yohanan's fantastic help, cleared all of the offending pigface from the garden, resulting in two trailer loads.  This was a big effort and very much appreciated as we can now convert that area to a more attractive front garden.
It was very encouraging for everyone to see how well some of the caper plants are doing and there were even some buds and flowers to show off.  Rabbits have had a nibble on some of them so I might have to bag them again and I'll get some pindone bait to put down next week.
Not a great shot, but proud caper owners :)

One unfortunate event yesterday was that Christina had a car accident but we give thanks to Yehovah for protecting her and the children from any harm.

We are coming up to our seven year anniversary so I'll put together some before and after shots of the property so we can appreciate and give thanks for all Yehovah has done for us, as well as give ourselves a pat on the back!

As I am typing this I am watching the full moon rise, the landscape soften and stillness descend upon Hebron.  I am again reminded of what a privilege it is to be set apart for His purposes.  We may be a peculiar people, an oddity or even a spectacle, but more importantly we are a people who love Him and delight in His torah and His ways.  Deut 4:1-9

May His shalom be with you on this shabbat.

Sukkot in the Adelaide Hills

With the autumn feasts upon us I was reflecting on Sukkot last year and how the year since has been full of YHVH's blessings and encouragements.   The HTTN community purchased the property nearly 19 years ago and we have worked hard to develop it.  There is still much to be done so that it can facilitate the purposes that YHVH wants for it but He has proven Himself faithful to His word over the years.  Not a minute too late, not a minute too soon.   We are looking forward to celebrating Yom Teruah next week and then Sukkot a few weeks later.  Hebron will once again be filled with the sound of shofars, singing and laughter.  Yes, there have been times of weeping and even then He proves Himself merciful and faithful. Hallelu Yah!

Over a year ago Yakira and I dreamt of how Hebron's fellowship house could  be updated and better suited to how we functioned as a messianic community.    We could see a fellowship room that had room to easily accommodate people and all the instruments.  Of course there had to be room to wave branches during Sukkot and the odd flag or two as well!  Being of the creative ilk we also wanted it to be aesthetically pleasing and could see the HTTN logo painted on a wall.   The design of the logo has evolved over time to reflect the mandate that YHVH has set for this part of His body in Adelaide.  Sonya devoted many hours to bring to life the visual expression of that mandate and Yakira redesigned the logo.    Why so much attention to a logo and visual expression of the mandate?  Because we as a community of torah-loving disciples of Messiah Yeshua have hearts that hold dreams and promises that are bigger than us as individuals or even co...

Shalom with Messiah

In a few weeks we will begin the next phase of the moed with Yom Teruah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot.  As with every year, we are eagerly anticipating this time with YHVH and the community in the Adelaide Hills.   One thing we say every year is that we long for the day when the wider Messianic community come together at Sukkot to celebrate with praise, feasting and fellowship.  It would seem that the Messianic community is relatively young and scattered in Australia and in the early days we would at times wonder if there was anyone else responding to the call to come out of the Christian church system and return to the ancient paths.  And of course there were and are. It's always so exciting when we meet another person or family who are on the same path and we can rejoice together.  We all have different stories, backgrounds and experiences but the common and binding truth is that YHVH is love and that love is expressed not only in His redemption but in the fullness o...
