Last weekend we gathered together at Hebron for worship, fellowship and discussion. We were blessed with perfect weather, which made accomplishing the chores on Sunday that much easier.
Over the last few weeks John has been sharing on the importance of relying on scripture rather than commentaries and systematic theology to dictate doctrine and belief. Unfortunately labouring under the misapprehensions handed down from generations past can often lead one away from the simplicity and purity of Torah and the Good News. The admonition of Paul in 1 Corinthians 3:18-23 is as relevant today as it was in his day.
18 Let
no one fool himself. If someone among you thinks he is wise (by this
world’s standards), let him become “foolish,” so that he may become
really wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is nonsense, as far as God is concerned; inasmuch as the Tanakh says, “He traps the wise in their own cleverness,”[a] 20 and again, “Adonai knows that the thoughts of the wise are worthless.”[b] 21 So let no one boast about human beings, for all things are yours — 22 whether Sha’ul or Apollos or Kefa or the world or life or death or the present or the future: they all belong to you, 23 and you belong to the Messiah, and the Messiah belongs to God.
On Sunday we attended to the flock and allowed the ram join in with them again, so that the next drop of lambs will be in approximately 5-6 months' time.
The guys made a very good start on erecting a dividing fence in the Palmer paddock. Eventually we'd like to divide our paddocks into many smaller ones, allowing for better pasture management.
Kimberly, Christina and the kids potted a few boxes of dirt and planted seedlings. All going well we will be planting our next batch of trees next autumn. Tree planting will be an ongoing activity for many years as we create a haven for the flock and native fauna, as well as ourselves.
Unfortunately at the end of the day a small stump was the cause of a big mishap as I drove through a paddock. Kimberly has neck pain from the accident so please continue to uphold her in prayer.
One of the delights of this time of year is the increased bird life, although being woken early to the raucous ravens tapping my bedroom window really is quite uncalled for!
Shalom and blessings to you and yours.
