Why celebrate Sukkot together? Or in fact, any of the moed (appointed times)?
I'm sure each person would respond differently, however, for myself there's a couple of reasons. First and foremost is to identify with Israel and embrace the instructions set out by our Father and Creator as there is wisdom and life in following His ways. We join with the commonwealth of Israel in looking forward to the day when the Messiah Yeshua arrives triumphantly to establish Yehovah's kingdom and torah will go forth from Zion.
Secondly it provides an opportunity to gather with like-minded brothers and sisters in Yeshua and be encouraged and strengthened. Setting aside time from work and obligations makes way for relationships to be renewed and deepened, and the Ruach haKodesh to minister and strengthen.
I thoroughly enjoyed Sukkot this year, particularly because of the shalom experienced here at Hebron; shalom that is felt in the comings and goings, the busyness and stillness, the noise of celebrations and the silence of individual meditation.
Not everyone in our fellowship was able to come up and they were missed, although we managed to make enough noise to make up for them!
During the week we gathered daily for prayer and scripture, we sang, we ate, we laughed and we loved. I'm a shocker for remembering to take photos but below is a snippet of our fun times together:
Some of us relaxing and taking in the views. |
Lambing began during Sukkot and Robyn took care of an abandoned little ram before he found his new home. |
Theonus doggedly exposing problem piping. |
John finding his second youth |
Brendan showing Yohanan how it's done |
Christine welcoming a new lamb |
Yakira enjoying her new wheels |
Beth getting a driving lesson |
A family that rides together ... |
Jim sharing how our Father has wonderfully led him through life |
Once I've grabbed other people's photos I'll pop up another post.
Next year in Jerusalem!
