It's been quite a while since I've updated everyone on the happenings here at Hebron but that doesn't mean it's been quiet and uneventful. Rather, life has been busy, the seasons change and chores are completed.
We've had a wedding and new residents, we've reduced the flock by a third and now we've got a new drop of lambs. We've come together to worship, to laugh, to fellowship and to work hard in the sun.
In a couple of weeks it will be our 10th anniversary since we took ownership of this plot of land and renamed it Hebron. We will be coming together to celebrate and give thanks for the way YHVH has provided, encouraged, lead us and continues to do.
Summer is our busiest season and the provision of water to the stock, gardens, caper patch and orchard is our highest priority. This summer has followed our driest spring so water is precious. The sticks in the water line of the dam that you see in the above picture is our high-tech system of gauging the amount of water we're pumping out and whether the aquifer water level is high enough for the spring to seep into the dam.
The caper patch sprung into life at the onset of summer but unfortunately it's not doing as well this week, either as an effect of over-watering or under-watering or just the hot winds but it's a mystery that I need to get to the bottom of.
There is a time for every season and each season brings it's blessings and challenges. Here at Hebron the cycle of seasons dictate the tasks we do to maintain and improve the facilities of the property. We are also guided by the cyclic nature of YHVH's feasts and this enables our eyes to be kept firmly on the Hope of our salvation and His kingdom. The keeping of His ways is a blessing but there are also challenges that crop up as well. For instance, today the world around us celebrates Christmas Day and there are expectations that friends and family may have regarding this time, whether or not they adhere to the Christian faith.
It's days like today that make me appreciate the simplicity of keeping His ways, if for nothing else that it just makes sense. It's logical; there is no guess work, word play or gymnastic-styled interpretation of scripture. He who is faithful, He who is kind, He who is just, He who is righteous, He who is able entrusted His torah to Israel and in turn they have preserved His Word through countless generations. May His people be blessed!
Hebron is such an integral part of our fellowship for a variety of reasons and over the next few weeks I'll be more diligent in highlighting some of those reasons in a post or two.
May you all be blessed in Yeshua, the Light of the world.
Shalom
