Set Apart

It's been rather quiet up here at Hebron the last couple of weeks, although life itself has been busy so those moments when you go outside and breath deeply of the peace and quiet are life-giving and precious.

We've had more lambs born this week, although it's jolly difficult to get a definite headcount without getting them in the yards.  We definitely have another set of twins and a single, or two singles, which makes 17 or 18 newcomers all up.  In the next month or so before Sukkot we will be taking a number of last year's wethers and others marked for culling so the freezer will be restocked. 

The local butcher slaughters the animals and hangs them for a couple of days, which ensures the carcass is well and truly bled out before they reach the saw.  The ability to raise our own meat and have confidence that the animals have lived well and are clean according to Torah is a real blessing.  The blessing of eating clean meats according to Torah is a constant reminder of the requirement to be set apart from the world we live in.  It's not burdensome, in fact it's a delight! 

The other addition is my new piano, which I'm very much enjoying.  Can't promise wonderful sonatas but like I always say, it's the passion and heart, not the expertise that matters to the audience of One.  Music and praise creates a powerful, life-giving exchange and it's not dependent on ability, it's dependent on relationship.  Of course it's always lovely when there is someone with a level of expertise to facilitate musical praise at times, but the beauty of being such a perfect creation is that we can express and create our thankfulness and relationship anytime, anywhere, anyhow.  Sing, dance, write, shout, clap and leap for joy because YHVH is great and worthy to be praised!

    Piano looks fabulous A. Am looking forward to seeing and hearing it next time at Hebron. In the meantime, enjoy it heaps - Hebron will not be the same once you start permeating it with those wonderful sounds. Great about the new lambs again. YHVH certainly is blessing us with all those wonderful babies. Thanks for the update once again. Great to see the ducks as well. See you in a couple of weeks or so.

    You're right Annette about music and praise creating a "powerful, life-giving exchange". We trade our despondency for His hopefulness and peace when singing to Him. Glad to read that you're enjoying the new piano. Thanks for sharing your news. I always love to see the gorgeous photos you take of Hebron!

  For over a year South Australia and Victoria have been in drought.  Dams are dry, crops have failed and trees are dying.   When the community bought the property 19 years ago we invested in sinking a bore to ensure water security.  The water quality is good enough to water the stock and our gardens.  We also have large rainwater tanks which have kept water to the house.  However, if the drought had of continued we would have hooked the house up to the bore water as well.    We had stored enough hay to feed our sheep and alpacas and they were well fed.  Investment in the infrastructure has been a big expense in both finances and labour over the years, but it's in years like this that it's well worth it.  It brings so much joy to see the green grass and gardens when the paddocks are bare and dry.   Praise YHVH, the rains came last week!   We have received 40ml over the last couple of weeks and more is on the...

Pesach 2025

It was such a blessing for our community to come together at Hebron  for the Pesach meal and the first day of unleavened bread.   We are not a big community in the Adelaide Hills but we are testifying that  Yeshua is the Messiah and walking in His ways.  There are so many individuals or families that don't have a Messianic fellowship that they can be part of because of geographic distances - or even theological distances.  Our desire is to see Messianic fellowships form and develop in many more parts of Australia so that the sheep of His pasture are fed, nurtured and protected. The Good News of Messiah and His kingdom has been hidden and misconstrued since the early times but the Ruach is revealing truth - the truth that sets His people free.      So as we come together in obedience to observe the moed, whether it's a couple here or a big fellowship over there, we are encouraged and built up in Him as we run the race that He has set before ...

Where Your Treasure Is.....

Life has changed for our community and we are now split between two geographic locations - Salem and Mildura - with a few of us coming and going between them.   When the scripture says we are an 'unusual people', that certainly has an added layer for our community!      We are full of anticipation of what YHVH will pour out for the people of Australia, particularly the towns along the Murray River and Victoria.     But coming home to Hebron is always so good for the soul.
