The month of set apart days has begun with a blast and a shout. Isn't this so much better than christian Christmas and Easter! Those of us who were able gathered at Christine's house for a time of joyous noise, shofar blasts, scripture readings, discussion and a meal. These times are so precious and meaningful and I always leave with a sense of purpose and peace.
Here at Hebron we have a little visitor who has decided to settle into the house paddock for the night, and I really hope she's there in the morning. As I was coming up from the bottom dam I was surprised by a young deer making her way down to the middle paddock. The only deer I've seen in these parts was a big stag in the middle of the road one night - Bonnie will be able to tell you about that one! - so I'm not sure where she's come from.
Another not so welcome event is the annual march of the millipedes. Nothing and no one is safe. Wonder if there's something that would find them yummy!
On my drive around the property today I discovered that the small black tank on top of the hill had been blown down to the bottom of the paddock in last week's big wind, so that will be a job for you blokes when you're up here next.
Two more weeks and Hebron will be filled with the noise of celebrations and fellowship. Each year we modify and tweak how we celebrate and function and each year our appreciation and understanding of this very important feast of Sukkot develops. All visitors and fellow lovers of torah and Yehovah's ways welcome!

Annette - great update... and I can help you out with a solution to the millipedes! Baysol Snail & Slug bait - little blue pelletts - I routinely sprinkle them around the house perimeter (and inside as required). Knocks them out real good...
ReplyDeleteI don't think anything actually eats them ... which is a shame, but can't say I blame them ;-)
I wonder if ducks would find them appetising?
