Last week we brought in the flock to tag, vaccinate and castrate the new batch of 34 lambs; 17 ewes and 17 rams. We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day and the task was completed quickly, which could be due to the flock being well behaved or the shepherds' stunning efficiency....I choose the later!
To date this year we have received 308mm (12 inches) of rain and the tanks are full, the dams are topped up and the pastures are doing well. However, an El Nino is forming and we're more than likely going to experience reduced spring rains so careful management of our pastures will be needed.
It's human nature, or perhaps complacence, that we want to hear good news and be reassured that all will be sunshine and lollipops but it is good practice to be informed and prepare well in advance. The same is true for the purpose of Hebron. We believe that the days are short and it is prudent for us to a prepare a place of refuge and provision in case of times of need, whether that be in 10 years, this generation or the next.
It's a beautiful piece of land and as we develop it to become more productive, usable and appealing we are being knitted together, honed and encouraged in Yeshua, the Messiah.
We are surely blessed and highly favoured.
