Sukkot 2013 - Day 1

What a magnificent start to the Sukkot festival this year.

I will adding a few photos and updates throughout the week, although this first batch is a bit lean on photos because I've had some issues with cables.

About 20 of us gathered in the Hebron lounge on the 1st Day to celebrate the anticipated coming of Messiah Yeshua and give praise and honour to Him who is worthy.

The children, aided by John on the tractor, were eager contributors to the decoration of our sukkot.  We have been blessed with a few days perfect weather so we've been able to spend time outside enjoying the beauty of Hebron.

I asked Yakira to write a summary of what the kids had been up to this week:
Playing Wii and playing outside and inside (all); decorating sukkot (all), riding bikes up and down hill.  Playing and practising duet on piano (mostly Rebekkah and Yakira); playing cars (Joshua and Yohannan).

During the week we had the opportunity to purchase two Dexter cows for a bargain price of $200 for both.  We've picked up Millie, the cow, and she is settling into the paddock at the front of the house, although Fergie, a steer, decided not to play ball and was more difficult to load, therefore he still waiting to be collected later in the week.  These two will help make use of the pasture that is currently going to waste, as well as help Hebron a more attractive place with their stylish hair-do's.

During this week we meet together daily for prayer and scripture.  It's always great to hear what each other has to say and be encouraged by whatever is on their hearts.  In the busyness that is 21st century lives, this week of Sukkot is an oasis where our souls are refreshed, our vision is restored and our relationships are strengthened.

Nehemiah 8
14 They found written in the Torah that Adonai had ordered through Moshe that the people of Isra’el were to live in sukkot during the feast of the seventh month; 15 and that they were to announce and pass the word in all their cities and in Yerushalayim, “Go out to the mountains, and collect branches of olives, wild olives, myrtles, palms, and other leafy trees to make sukkot, as prescribed.” 16 So the people went out, brought them and made sukkot for themselves, each one on the roof of his house, also in their courtyards, in the courtyards of the house of God, in the open space by the Water Gate and in the open space by the Efrayim Gate. 17 The entire community of those who had returned from the exile made sukkot and lived in the sukkot, for the people of Isra’el had not done this since the days of Yeshua the son of Nun. So there was very great joy. 18 Also they read every day, from the first day until the last day, in the scroll of the Torah of God. They kept the feast for seven days; then on the eighth day there was a solemn assembly, according to the rule.

Unleavened Bread - 2024

For this small part of Yeshua's body, Healing to the Nations in South Australia, the last few months, including the past week of Pesach, has been ....well, different and unusual.  It has truly been a period of time where Father YHVH has been rooting and grounding us in His love, word and truth.  We gathered together at Hebron to keep the Pesach memorial and there was a stripping back.  No traditions, no add-ons, just Yeshua's Pesach and Yeshua's words.  The following day, the first day of Unleavened Bread, the Father's kindness and uncompromising truth was manifested amongst us.  It was truly a blessed time together.  Traditionally the week of unleavened bread will have an emphasis of dealing with the carnal ego, which is very apt, or the leaven of the pharisees, which is also very apt.  However, Paul emphasised that sin that is tolerated is also leaven that must be exposed and dealt with to ensure that the body of Yeshua is kadosh, which was emphasise...

Sukkot in the Adelaide Hills

With the autumn feasts upon us I was reflecting on Sukkot last year and how the year since has been full of YHVH's blessings and encouragements.   The HTTN community purchased the property nearly 19 years ago and we have worked hard to develop it.  There is still much to be done so that it can facilitate the purposes that YHVH wants for it but He has proven Himself faithful to His word over the years.  Not a minute too late, not a minute too soon.   We are looking forward to celebrating Yom Teruah next week and then Sukkot a few weeks later.  Hebron will once again be filled with the sound of shofars, singing and laughter.  Yes, there have been times of weeping and even then He proves Himself merciful and faithful. Hallelu Yah!

Shalom with Messiah

In a few weeks we will begin the next phase of the moed with Yom Teruah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot.  As with every year, we are eagerly anticipating this time with YHVH and the community in the Adelaide Hills.   One thing we say every year is that we long for the day when the wider Messianic community come together at Sukkot to celebrate with praise, feasting and fellowship.  It would seem that the Messianic community is relatively young and scattered in Australia and in the early days we would at times wonder if there was anyone else responding to the call to come out of the Christian church system and return to the ancient paths.  And of course there were and are. It's always so exciting when we meet another person or family who are on the same path and we can rejoice together.  We all have different stories, backgrounds and experiences but the common and binding truth is that YHVH is love and that love is expressed not only in His redemption but in the fullness o...
